Frequently Asked Questions

If you are searching for answers to spiritual questions, please read through our Next Steps pages (get started at our first step), which will help you to understand what it means to know Jesus Christ personally, to be baptized, and to begin living the Christian life.

WHAT IS YOUR VISION, MISSION, AND GOAL?

Our vision, mission, and goal can be summed up in one sentence: We glorify God by making ASL disciples of all nations! More specifically, we love God and people, we grow ASL disciples, and we send empowered ASL disciple-makers to impact the world.

Please read here for more details about our vision, mission, and goal at the Table Church.

WHAT DENOMINATION IS THE TABLE CHURCH PART OF?

We identify ourselves as part of the worldwide Alliance family and a congregation in the Mid-Atlantic District of the Christian & Missionary Alliance. But The Table Church is really a place for everyone, regardless of their backgrounds. We are all about Jesus, we are faithful to the Bible, and we are passionate about the least, the last, and the lost coming to know Christ.

Please take some time to read our beliefs and core values to understand more why we do everything here.

WHAT IS THE WORSHIP STYLE AT THE TABLE CHURCH?

At the Table Church, we realize not everyone likes music or has the same musical taste, so we strive to provide something for everyone. During our weekly services, we try to create a modern-contemporary service. There will be ASL-signed music from modern Christian songs composed by bands such Passion, Hillsong, Elevation, and Bethel, in addition to some well-beloved hymns. There will also be occasional short skits appropriate for all ages. The worship service will be conducted entirely in American Sign Language and will be voice-interpreted* for hearing family members and friends and visitors.

We believe that it is important for the entire family to participate in worship services. During sermons, we will send children up to 5th grade to an age-appropriate program where they will have fun and learn about God at their level.

* – We cannot guarantee ASL interpreters will be present at all times.

DO I HAVE TO GIVE ANY MONEY AT THE OFFERING TIME?

Don’t feel any pressure to give! Giving money during offering (tithing) is not a requirement for anybody, no matter how many times you attend church. If you consider The Table Church to be your faith family, we believe that you should give as your heart leads, not reluctantly or under obligation, but cheerfully and graciously (2 Cor. 9:6-15).

HOW WILL THE TABLE CHURCH MAKE DISCIPLES?

Disciple-making happens when the church is intentional about taking people on a journey toward spiritual growth. We want to clear the pathway for people to take steps forward in their faith. This means we’ll be offering small groups designed to introduce people to the faith and to introduce believers to new levels of spiritual maturity.

Disciples aren’t simply people who are increasing in their understanding of biblical doctrine. Disciples actively serve and reproduce themselves by bringing others into the family of God. We will define spiritual maturity in terms of our intimacy with God as well as our activity for God.

We will provide opportunities for fellowship, friendship, and community through an ever-expanding network of small groups, and in the context of these small groups, discipleship will happen as we mutually sharpen one another and dive deeper into God’s Word together.

DOES THE TABLE CHURCH OFFER MINISTRY TO CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS?

Absolutely yes! We partner with Deaf Teen Quest of Central Maryland and Metro Maryland chapters of Youth for Christ USA. to make ministry to our children and teenagers possible! ASL Family Life, our weekly small group for the entire family, is when Deaf Teen Quest meets on a weekly basis.

Check out our ASL Family Life group page to find out details about small groups for our children and teenagers.

WHAT ABOUT GROUPS FOR YOUNG ADULTS?

Again, yes! We have a group for all young adults from 18 – 35 years old! E-mail info@thetablecma.org for more details about this group.
