“The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!”” (Matthew 21:9, NIV)

As Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowds greeted Him with loud praises, shouting “Hosanna,” which means “Save us!” They recognized Him as the Messiah, the promised King who came to bring salvation. However, their expectations were fo- cused on a political savior, not the spiritual redemption Jesus came to offer through His death and resurrection. Despite this, their worship—filled with joy and adoration— demonstrates the appropriate response to the King who came to save.

Lent is a time to examine how we worship. Are we honoring Jesus for who He truly is—the Savior who came to free us from sin and death? True worship involves not just words, but a life surrendered to Him. Like the crowds, we too are called to proclaim, “Hosanna”—not just with our lips, but through our actions, living in a way that reflects our gratitude for His sacrifice.

Challenge: How can you worship Jesus today as the Savior He is? Is there an area of your life where you need to more fully surrender to Him?"

"Prayer: Lord, cleanse my heart as You cleansed the temple. Remove any distractions or sin that keep me from fully surrendering to You. Amen.
